Protect shooters and watch melee creatures’ facing. Flanking depends on the actual attack direction. The listed army guides planning, but a mission may change its counts.

The following is our recommendation. Creatures, spells and items must actually be acquired; this does not establish current inventory.

Recruitment governor · Dire Wolf +5

I would choose this hero primarily to improve recruitment of the line below. The bonus applies while governing the relevant town and its area. Check dwellings, purchase costs and reinforcement travel before assigning the role.

Secondary role: A combat commander according to developed skills; the recruitment specialty itself does not improve the army’s attacks.

What the profile establishes

The bonus requires the governor role and applies in the governed town’s area. Base and upgraded forms belong to one recruitment line; do not add their displayed values as two separate rewards. Check dwellings and budget: extra recruitment availability is neither a free army nor a direct combat bonus.

A specialty target, conversion and tactical example are different relationships. Check conversion costs and compare individual upgrade forms on creature cards. A tactical example is not a confirmed starting army.

Detailed game plan · Orna: stronger Heal and a protected shooting start

The following is our tactical analysis of the sourced profile. Choices depend on the actual map, learned spells and army; linked cards provide rules and references.

  1. Use the specific sourced start

Orna’s specialty establishes Heal and Novice Light Magic, casting that spell one rank above her current school. The reference army lists 21 Sentinels and 20 Crossbowmen. Check the map’s actual setup before recruitment and loss planning.

  2. Shooter protection starts with positioning

Use Sentinels to screen space against the enemy’s actual reach. The base Sentinel here does not have Legionnaire Shielding or the Heroes VI namesake’s rule. The screening stack’s facing matters: access to its flank or rear can change the price of protecting your shooters.

  3. Heal a stack that can still contribute

Compare healing gained with the following enemy attacks and expected shots. Restoring a stack has a different value if the next hit immediately eliminates it again. Use the Heroes VII Heal card for targeting, cost and calculation rather than a namesake from another game.

  4. Equip according to pressure on the army

Ring of Conjuring improves Magic and mana capacity. Dwarven Shield supports the led creatures’ Defense. If the screen cannot survive the required contact, pure magic equipment may not buy another shooting action; against a different pressure type, physical defense alone can also be insufficient.

The bonus requires the governor role and applies in the governed town’s area. Base and upgraded forms belong to one recruitment line; do not add their displayed values as two separate rewards. Check dwellings and budget: extra recruitment availability is neither a free army nor a direct combat bonus.

Detailed game plan · Masfar: two recruitment lines, their budget and a combat fallback

The following is our tactical analysis of the sourced profile. Choices depend on the actual map, learned spells and army; linked cards provide rules and references.

  1. Meet the governor condition first

Consider Masfar where Academy recruitment in the relevant town is useful. The specialty requires the governor role and the governed town’s area. Check dwellings, budget and reinforcement travel before assignment. The two reference stacks of eight Golems are a separate profile fact, not weekly specialty rewards.

  2. The two lines have different growth bonuses

Golem and Sandstone Golem belong to one line with +3 growth; Gargoyle and Obsidian Gargoyle belong to another with +6. Do not count base and upgraded forms as additional simultaneous bonuses. This is not +6 Golems and +12 Gargoyles. Compare each form’s abilities and the upgrade price you actually intend to pay.

  3. Extra availability still needs funding

At the listed base prices, three Golems cost 414 gold and six Gargoyles cost 300, totaling 714 gold. The corresponding three Sandstone Golems and six Obsidian Gargoyles total 927 gold. These are budget examples using the listed recruitment prices before further changes; growth alone neither pays for those troops nor transports them to the army.

  4. Build a combat fallback on the actual profile

The profile lists Metamagic, Prime Magic and the reference spell Time Control. Before combat command, check the actual spellbook, available ranks and usable mana; a listed spell does not establish every school ability. Compare changing roles with the governor’s contribution to further recruitment. Creature growth itself increases neither Attack nor the number of combat actions.

Army command · Necropolis

Protect shooters and watch melee creatures’ facing. Flanking depends on the actual attack direction. The listed army guides planning, but a mission may change its counts.

What the profile establishes

The army’s total flanking damage bonus is increased by 15%. Actual attack direction matters; a frontal hit does not use it.

Listed starting skills

  • Diplomacy
Suggested army and further development

The following is our recommendation. Creatures, spells and items must actually be acquired; this does not establish current inventory.

Build further choices around the listed skills and the needs of the current army. Choose equipment for the actual bottleneck: survival, attack effectiveness, mana or movement.

Skills I would build around: Necromancy · Diplomacy. Match further choices to available ranks and the current army.

How to use this hero

Home faction: Stronghold

Army command · Stronghold

Protect shooters and watch melee creatures’ facing. Flanking depends on the actual attack direction. The listed army guides planning, but a mission may change its counts.

Starting Magic bonus: +4. Match the attribute with the hero’s role; this does not add the same bonus to every attribute.

Suggested army and further development

The following is our recommendation. Creatures, spells and items must actually be acquired; this does not establish current inventory.

Build further choices around the listed skills and the needs of the current army. Choose equipment for the actual bottleneck: survival, attack effectiveness, mana or movement.

Skills I would build around: Bloodrage · Leadership. Match further choices to available ranks and the current army.

Creatures I would consider

Spells for this plan

  • Storm ArrowsSpell / warcry in the reference profile

Buff a large shooter before several volleys. With the perk, look for several useful recipients; an area only matters when eligible shooters can exploit it. If the shooter is engaged in melee, first assess whether it can make an effective ranged attack.

For the primary role, first use the appropriate town and fund recruitment. For combat, build on the sourced skills below and choose new branches from this class’s actual options.

Skills I would build around: Natures Revenge · Offense. Match further choices to available ranks and the current army.

A specialty target, conversion and tactical example are different relationships. Check conversion costs and compare individual upgrade forms on creature cards. A tactical example is not a confirmed starting army.

The bonus requires the governor role and applies in the governed town’s area. Base and upgraded forms belong to one recruitment line; do not add their displayed values as two separate rewards. Check dwellings and budget: extra recruitment availability is neither a free army nor a direct combat bonus.

The following is our recommendation. Creatures, spells and items must actually be acquired; this does not establish current inventory.

For the primary role, first use the appropriate town and fund recruitment. For combat, build on the sourced skills below and choose new branches from this class’s actual options.

Skills I would build around: Shroud · Warcries.

Ivan Griffin

Campaign profile

How to use this hero

Home faction: Haven

Army command · Haven

Protect shooters and watch melee creatures’ facing. Flanking depends on the actual attack direction. The listed army guides planning, but a mission may change its counts.

What the profile establishes

The complete starting skill list is not established here. The specialty identifies explicitly granted abilities.

Suggested army and further development

The following is our recommendation. Creatures, spells and items must actually be acquired; this does not establish current inventory.

Build further choices around the listed skills and the needs of the current army. Choose equipment for the actual bottleneck: survival, attack effectiveness, mana or movement.

Creatures I would consider

Equipment I would compare

Compare effect, slot and acquisition conditions on the item card. A suggestion does not establish that the hero starts with it.

Campaign, availability and use

Ivan of House Griffin is central to Heroes VII’s framing story and commands its final campaign. His availability belongs to particular scenarios. This profile does not assign campaign Ivan a default army or ordinary town-hall recruitment.

Exact starting attributes, skills, army, released-game class and numerical specialty of this campaign profile are not yet independently established. Pre-release footage and another hero’s class baseline are not substitutes.

Documented scenarios and progression conditions

The Tears of the World

The first campaign map. The guide requires completion of at least two faction campaigns to unlock it. Peace Offering requires speaking to Murazel, Kente, Anastasya and Lasir.

Before detouring for an optional reward, distinguish story progression from army improvement. Compare the objective gained, travel days and reinforcements for each route. Speaking to a character does not establish ordinary recruitment availability.

Original scenario guide and map ↗

The Dream of What Could Be

The second and final map opposes Seamus. The river can be crossed via a dam or Jorgen’s underground route. The guide prices a map-catapult repair at 20 wood, 20 ore and one turn.

Keep a recruitment and building reserve before repairing. Compare the wood and ore commitment with expected breakthrough losses; a catapult is not an automatic free victory. Judge the underground route against current army position and return travel time.

Original scenario guide and map ↗

Army-management decisions

The main army and supporting tasks

Before splitting strength among heroes, identify the next mandatory battle and the army meant to win it. Separately assess a support hero’s supply movement, territorial tasks and actual survival prospects. More portraits do not automatically increase concentrated strength at the objective.

Equipment for the planned battle

Before a major fight compare offensive, defensive and morale bonuses from actually equipped items. Spirit concerns mana capacity and recovery rather than automatic spell learning; hero map Movement and creature combat movement are distinct. A few similarly named items do not establish a complete equipped set.

Inspect the defenders before attacking

Ranged defenders call for a different plan from flyers or a long approach to a wall. Check formation against the actual abilities of your units. Legionnaire has Shielding and base Sentinel does not in this game; a similar Heroes VI ability name does not establish the same damage split.

Spells and suitable equipment

This profile’s individual starting spells are not yet established. A school or recommendation below does not confirm spellbook contents.

Starting attributes, released-game class, numerical specialty and the complete starting army of this campaign profile remain under review. These examples establish specific scenario roles rather than ordinary hiring defaults.

Documented scenarios and progression conditions

The Griefs That Fate Assigns

Castaway leads to the first town on the opening map. The guide prices the special story boat at 6,500 gold, 16 wood and 8 ore.

Treat the boat as a separate budget objective on this map. Before an optional building, deduct its cost and compare the remainder with the departure requirement. Do not apply this price to every Heroes VII boat.

Army-management decisions

Identify what unlocks the next route

Record the required character, conversation, movement and battle separately for each objective. A stronger army cannot unlock an event awaiting a different story step. Before returning to a location, compare the journal with what has actually been completed.

Prepare before a distant expedition

Before departure, count available reinforcements, free slots and funds after travel costs. Distinguish strengthening for a difficult battle from rewards requiring another long return trip. Judge a detour by the particular losses it might prevent.

A shooter needs usable space

Before the first move, inspect enemy reach and your own abilities. Distance alone does not guarantee safety from flight, spells or other reach. Assess support by the protection it can actually provide rather than the total strength of the army.

Protect shooters and watch melee creatures’ facing. Flanking depends on the actual attack direction. The listed army guides planning, but a mission may change its counts.

What the profile establishes

Documented scenarios and progression conditions

The Griefs That Fate Assigns · Castaway

She joins after the player follows her and completes the first-town conversation. This does not establish ordinary hiring availability.

Reassign tasks after receiving the second hero. One may lead the main army while the other handles reachable support duties. Check both roles against current routes and threats; do not expect an empty support hero to win the same battle.

Original scenario guide and map ↗

Army-management decisions

Give support a reachable task

When handing over reinforcements, count both heroes’ travel and whether they can actually meet. A transfer does not move creatures across arbitrary distances. Support is useful when its route saves the main army time without exposing the carrier to an unwinnable fight.

Do not split a decisive stack automatically

Before splitting an army, identify the next mandatory fight and check that the main force can still handle it. Another portrait does not create more creatures. Judge a split by its specific purpose, reachable objective and expected losses on both routes.

Availability can differ by scenario

At the next map, inspect available heroes, equipment and transferred data again. Presence in one chapter does not guarantee the same state in another. A documented story arrival is not a substitute for a verified starting army.

Campaign, availability and use

Prince Tomas leads the opening Haven campaign map. Story repairs and defence deadlines have their own triggers.

Starting attributes, released-game class, numerical specialty and the complete starting army of this campaign profile remain under review. These examples establish specific scenario roles rather than ordinary hiring defaults.

Documented scenarios and progression conditions

A Dissolute Audacity

Bridge repair requires 500 gold, 4 ore and 8 wood. Capturing Warhagen and completing the following conversation starts an 18-day defence preparation period.

Keep a reserve for the next battle before paying for the bridge. Once the defence stage triggers, record its deadline and plan a return with travel margin. These 18 days are not automatically counted from the first turn of the map.

Original scenario guide and map ↗

Army-management decisions

Progression budget and defence budget

Separate route-unlocking resources from recruitment gold. A building helping next week may be a poor choice if it prevents today’s mandatory progression. Before buying, compare remaining stock with both objectives rather than a single price.

The last detour before defence

For a detour, count outward travel, the task itself and the return. A reward cannot help defence if its carrier arrives late. Compare the approaching deadline with actual movement and routes rather than a visual estimate of map distance.

Check the defender’s exact variant

Sentinel and Legionnaire have different abilities in this game. Before setting a screen, open the exact profile and check adjacency to the protected stack. Do not assign the base unit a protection ability merely because its upgrade has one.

Documented scenarios and progression conditions

The Story of the Wizard and the Djinn

The guide links taking Flower of the Desert to losing control of Fahada and starting a one-week deadline for the next objective stage.

Before the story trigger, inspect remaining objectives, army and the next character’s route. Check what the current save still allows you to prepare or transfer; do not assume automatic inheritance of every attribute or item.

Original scenario guide and map ↗

Army-management decisions

Prepare continuation before the trigger

While the hero remains available, read the journal and identify tasks depending on her movement. An item or conversation may change later options. Distinguish the action you intend from an assumption that the same heroes remain available afterwards.

Count spell purpose and casts

Prepare for battle by identifying the needed effect, available school and actual cost for this hero state. More mana does not itself unlock an unknown spell. Leave a budget for the next mandatory encounter rather than only the chosen attack.

Separate personal bonuses from army support

For each item, check its slot, recipient and condition. A hero Magic bonus need not increase an ordinary creature attack. Compare equipment against the specific battle plan and allowed casting rather than just adding card numbers.

The World Which Detachment Renounces

Dark Hopes initially protects Zenda and later the other acquired main heroes. Zenda’s Doubts leads to the temple and deactivation of three underground obelisks.

Read the updated defeat conditions after receiving each character. Do not assign a support task that risks a hero whose loss ends the map. Distinguish this quest’s underground obelisks from ordinary surface treasure hunting.

Original scenario guide and map ↗

Army-management decisions

Protect the victory condition first

Before resolving a fight automatically, check who may be lost and whether a safe return exists. A secondary hero can still be required for progression. Compare scouting value with the risk to the whole map rather than only the support army’s price.

Track triggers and usable passages

When a quest changes passage access, inspect usable routes after each activation. The previous route may not remain usable. Further movement requires a real path in the map’s current state; a visited-object marker does not guarantee one.

Check living and undead recipients separately

Before support or attack, inspect target type and the exact spell rule. An undead army does not promise immunity to every effect. A similarly named older-game spell does not automatically transfer its recipients or exceptions to Heroes VII.

Spells and suitable equipment

This profile’s individual starting spells are not yet established. A school or recommendation below does not confirm spellbook contents.

Campaign, availability and use

Imani leads part of the Stronghold story. Its final scenario establishes direct control alongside Kibwe and Reem; these roles do not imply shared starting values.

Starting attributes, released-game class, numerical specialty and the complete starting army of this campaign profile remain under review. These examples establish specific scenario roles rather than ordinary hiring defaults.

Documented scenarios and progression conditions

True to Ourselves

The three heroes begin apart. Coordinated Assault assigns the fort to Kibwe and Burtuqaali to Reem; an extra condition requires the second capture within two days of the first.

Get both designated heroes into suitable positions before the first capture. Count travel, battle and route-unlocking conditions separately. Do not treat the two-day window as a deadline automatically starting on the map’s first turn.

Original scenario guide and map ↗

Army-management decisions

Plan a shared attack window

For each mandatory capture, record the eligible hero, current position and remaining route. Delay starting a short deadline until the other army can actually follow. Strengthening one force does not solve another commander’s inability to reach the target.

A key obtained elsewhere can change the plan

After one character progresses, inspect the others’ options again. Track what unlocks a route rather than only distance to the target. Do not automatically answer a blocked section with a larger army when it requires a story activation elsewhere.

Each separated army needs its own reserve

For every force, check survival in the next mandatory fight, mana and reachable reinforcements. A distant strong army is not an immediate reserve. The weakest required branch matters because its delay can undermine the others’ progress.

Spells and suitable equipment

This profile’s individual starting spells are not yet established. A school or recommendation below does not confirm spellbook contents.

Vayaron is a controlled Dungeon campaign hero. Some objectives distinguish his personal presence from Malwen’s; army strength does not replace that condition.

Starting attributes, released-game class, numerical specialty and the complete starting army of this campaign profile remain under review. These examples establish specific scenario roles rather than ordinary hiring defaults.

Documented scenarios and progression conditions

The Essence of Purest Poison · Best Served Cold

Best Served Cold requires Vayaron to visit the Invisible Library. The guide explicitly distinguishes the required hero from previously unlocking access.

Track two expedition conditions: an unlocked route and the right hero’s presence. If a location does not respond, first check the journal and selected character. Repeating the same move with another hero may not advance the story.

Original scenario guide and map ↗

Army-management decisions

The required visitor is part of the route

Before a long journey, check who must complete the objective at its end. Support may handle territory, but do not assume it can complete every personal objective for another character. Sending the wrong visitor can cost an entire return trip.

Record gate dependencies

For each blocked route, note the required trigger and its reachable location. When a new area opens, compare both heroes’ available objectives again. A spatial shortcut is not useful if it ends at an unmet story condition.

Prepare support for the required commander

For an objective assigned to one character, inspect that character’s army, equipment and available spells. Do not base the plan on another hero’s attributes from the same town. If preparation can be transferred, include the real meeting and its travel cost.

Documented scenarios and progression conditions

The Shadows of Men’s Thoughts · The Last Crusade

The guide requires Malwen to attack Crusader Commandery. It becomes accessible after the four merchant visits in Gossipmonger.

Prepare Malwen specifically before the final attack and check the conversations are complete. A plan bringing the strongest army to the correct location with the wrong commander is insufficient. Arrange reinforcements before the moment the attack is needed.

Original scenario guide and map ↗

Army-management decisions

Prepare the personal-objective carrier

Assess a mandatory fight using the character allowed to trigger it. Check current mana, valid equipment and recruitment or transfer options. A stronger second hero may help preparation without inheriting permission to perform the final action.

Conversation, access and battle are separate steps

After the last required visit, inspect the journal update and actual target access. A missing visit may block the attack regardless of army strength. Base the next move on the objective and map as they currently stand.

Track both heroes’ development separately

When buying or learning, check who receives the bonus and who will fight. Developing one character does not automatically develop the pair. Before a personal encounter, compare requirements with that hero’s state rather than combined map-wide resources.
