How to use this creature in practice
Melee core and holding approaches
Sporemancer should take reachable melee exchanges or hold an approach to more valuable units. Before advancing, identify its next target and enemies able to attack it afterward.
Watch for: Base stats are not the final exchange result. Account for retaliation, current creature count, target immunity and subsequent action order.
Timing, specific abilities and the follow-up plan
Speed 6 and Initiative 8 govern different parts of the turn. This profile lists ability costs of 2 Focus charges; compare them with the shared pool, cooldown and competing activations.
- Shroomsong: Once per battle, consumes the entire stored Focus reserve. Each charge restores 4 hero mana, so the amount depends on the reserve when activated. Cost: 2 Focus charge(s); cooldown: 2 round(s).
- Swarm of Bees: Initially deals 16 + 4 × caster count damage, then repeats that amount at the target’s turn starts over three rounds. Multiple applications accumulate. Cost: 2 Focus charge(s); cooldown: 2 round(s).

Abilities and limitations
Shroomsong
Once per battle, consumes the entire stored Focus reserve. Each charge restores 4 hero mana, so the amount depends on the reserve when activated. Cost: 2 Focus charge(s); cooldown: 2 round(s).
Swarm of Bees
Initially deals 16 + 4 × caster count damage, then repeats that amount at the target’s turn starts over three rounds. Multiple applications accumulate. Cost: 2 Focus charge(s); cooldown: 2 round(s).
Protective Roots
Gives the selected ally one round of Magic-damage immunity. Ordinary physical hits are not automatically stopped. Cost: 2 Focus charge(s); cooldown: 2 round(s).
Living
Living creatures normally have morale limits of −5 to +5 and luck limits of −3 to +3. Their casualties can supply post-battle Necromancy.
Long Reach
Can strike the hex immediately beyond an adjacent hex without moving next to the victim. The strike prevents retaliation, allowing a gap or obstacle to protect the attacker.
Mushroom Magic
The allied hero pays 2 less mana per spell. Multiple copies do not accumulate; only the strongest version applies.
