A powerful spell has an opportunity cost
Solmyr has sourced Chain Lightning and its specialty, but starts with Basic Wisdom and Basic Sorcery rather than automatically having Air Magic. Compare current mana with the spell card’s cost first. For example, paying the base cost of 24 from 30 mana leaves 6, which does not fund a second identical cast.
The first target is not the whole decision
Untrained and Basic chains hit up to four targets, with each subsequent hit using half the previous damage. Inspect nearby follow-up targets on both sides before moving your own army. Total damage is not four times the first hit, and the specialty does not give blanket friendly immunity.
Shooters must exploit the result
Keep Master Gremlins within safe shooting range and check the enemy’s approach around screening Golems. After casting, target a stack whose removal prevents the next enemy action. Spreading damage among several stacks that remain combat-ready may leave the incoming pressure intact.
When to change the plan
If Lightning Bolt has actually been learned, compare its cheaper focused hit against an isolated target or an unsafe next jump. Charm of Mana supports later days rather than instantly refilling this turn’s reserve. Spell Power equipment helps the applicable formula but does not repair poor positioning.
